With tutors holding back-to-back appointments throughout the afternoon, families had the opportunity to discuss students’ academic progress, social development, and emotional wellbeing, while also agreeing clear and meaningful targets for the term ahead. These meetings play a vital role in strengthening collaboration between home and school, ensuring every pupil receives the support they need to thrive.

Meeting Our Therapy and Wellbeing Team

The event also provided a valuable opportunity for families to meet members of our Therapy Team and learn more about the holistic support available at Odyssey House School.

Bibiana spoke with parents about Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT tapping) and how it can support emotional regulation. Teddy, our much-loved PAWS therapy dog, brought plenty of comfort and smiles, supported by his handlers, Tash and Alice. Holly was also available to discuss music therapy interventions and the positive impact they can have on pupils’ wellbeing and engagement.

Supporting Pupils Beyond the Classroom

Sian and Connie spoke with families about the wide range of support available across home, school and the wider community, including discussions around life after Odyssey. Emily shared insights into how the school promotes pupil wellbeing through robust safeguarding and child protection processes, while Vandana showcased some of the fantastic student artwork currently being produced.

Families also enjoyed visiting Jack and Martyna in Outdoor Learning, rounding off the afternoon with a hotdog from the school BBQ.

A Positive and Well-Attended Afternoon

The afternoon was a great success, with over three quarters of our students represented. It was wonderful to see so many positive, constructive conversations taking place, reinforcing the strong partnerships between families and the Odyssey House School community.
