Tier 1 - Global intervention

Its aim to empower pupils and parents and staff to facilitate support for all pupils particularly at risk of not accessing education:

  • Provision of advice, signposting and training to parents and professionals to increase awareness and understanding of therapeutic needs.
  • The delivery of training for the Odyssey Education Services team and other agencies.
  • Provision of indirect support for all pupils to access the curriculum through information, advice and training given.
  • Promotion of positive therapeutic practices across the Pan-disciplinary team.

Tier 2 - Focused intervention

Pupils may transition through the intervention levels as a result of regular target review meetings.

Level 2A
Delivers Interventions which have been designed by a Lead Teacher, under the direction of the Headteacher, who directs a Learning and Development Facilitator to engage with a child on a 1:1 basis and disseminates aspects of learning and development to a. FL1 is designed to provide short to medium term intervention and this is conducted in the home or other settings. The aim to work towards reintegration into a mainstream or other specialist setting.

Level 2 B
Delivers Interventions which have been designed by a Lead Teacher, under the direction of the Headteacher, who engages with a child on a 1:1 basis and whom may disseminate targeted aspects of learning and development to a Learning and Development Facilitator. FL2 is designed to provide short to medium term intervention and this is conducted in the home, other settings and on-site at one of the Odyssey House School locations.

Tier 3 - Specialised intervention

It consists of one level of engagement by a Lead Teacher and associated subject specialists for children defined and sustained clinical need. Children usually start off learning remotely and transition to attend Odyssey House School or engage in a multi-modal programme of delivery at school, at home or elsewhere. This is a longerterm
intervention that will:

  • Engage in the initial referral assessment of all prospective pupils and students in partnership with other multi-disciplinary team members;
  • Ensure the provision of specialist assessment, advice and intervention to support and monitor a child’s progress;
  • Ensure the provision of pan-therapeutic support.
  • Provide specialist training to professionals and families for example in the use of agreed intervention techniques.
  • Ensure that Children and young people with Statements of Special Educational Needs or Education Health Care Plans (EHC Plan) will continue to receive their input according to the specificity agreed in their Plan.
